First, you need to clean the basement floor by scrubbing and sweeping the area thoroughly. Firmly, Seal the basement floor with plastic bag using duct tapes overnight. You should use a sealer before painting when you found floor damp under the bag in the morning.
Use patching compound to patch holes or cracks on the basement floor. You can use mesh to patch large holes on the floor. Try to make the floor surface as level as possible.
You can use lint free roller to apply the sealer. In order to keep the floor wet and glistening, Use a continuous motion. It’s better to use large brush to seal the corners. Basement floor sealer is designed to penetrate the concrete floor. It’s recommended to applied several coats on your basement floor to get best result. Before you painting the floor make sure the floor sealer is dry completely.
Mottled Effect On Basement Floor Sealer
Paint generously the epoxy based paint using lint free rollers. Let it dry for about one or two days depending on humidity. You can apply the second coat after the first coat is dry. If it needed, you can apply the third coat.
Add colored latex chips sprinkled and Create texture into a second coat that still wet. Adding a third coat with different color will create mottled effect on your basement floor sealer.
